SECOND STEP – Mix cards

Instead of shuffle I use the word mix because it is the most suitable to describe what we are going to do next.

The 16 cards we have selected are mixed in an orderly manner, this is done by placing the cards first and picking them up later.

The cards can be placed and collected in several different ways:

  • In lines from left to right.
  • In lines from right to left.
  • In columns from top to bottom.
  • In columns from bottom to top.

If we place them in lines, we can collect them in columns and if we place them in columns,we can collect them in lines.

The three squares are independent of each other.

For example: In the first square we can mix up the cards by placing them in lines from left to right and collecting them in columns from top to bottom.

In the second square we can mix the cards by placing them in columns from bottom to top and collecting them in lines from right to left.

In the third square we can mix the cards by placing them in columns from top to bottom and collecting them in lines from left to right.

But we can also place the cards in lines from left to right and collect them also in lines from right to left, or place the cards in columns from top to bottom and collect them also in columns from bottom to top.

Although alternating the placement and collection of cards in lines and columns or vice versa is the best way to mix the cards

We can even, sometimes if we want, skip this second step of Mix cards and go from the first step of Select cards to the third step of Place cards face down without having mixed the cards, but doing so decreases the amount and variety of FOZUDOKUS we can do.

The important thing is to vary the way we do it to get different FOZUDOKUS.

However, we choose to do it, we must do it the same way in ALL the square.
